We have been getting this error code since this was in production. We built 2 exact servers from scratch and other one is having no problem whatsoever while installing the updates. Here are the things we have tried to resolve this:.

Ran the update troubleshooter, It detects ‘Service registration is missing or corrupt’ and fixes it but that does not solve the problem. We have tried manual installation of those updates on the server by downloading those files from Microsoft Catalogue but it never gets completed and eventually it will stop.
