What a beautiful way to wrap up our Grow Your Wellness gardening club!
Over the past few weeks, we’ve planted, learned, laughed and grown not just vegetables, but friendships and confidence too.
To mark our final session, we came together for a special brunch and harvest celebration, enjoying both the early results of our garden and treats brought in by each other:
• Fresh produce from some of our own beds and home gardens like tomatoes
• Items we’ve sown into the beds but are still growing such as onions, potatoes and spinach, showing the promise of what’s to come
• Delicious contributions including key lime cheesecake, watermelon slices and even popcorn!
• instilling good habit and thinking of caring for the Earth in our younger community members!
• use the space more frequently in the near future embedding it in other projects
• reflect on the progress of the plants masha Allah tabarak Allah
We took time to acknowledge how far we’ve come from learning how to plant and care for our beds, to understanding soil, pest control (like using lamb’s wool to deter slugs), and designing spaces that reflect our needs and personalities.
This pilot project has shown us the satisfaction of growing your own food and what it’s like when we work and grow together in a shared community garden.
