For day 3 of Flora & Thread, we continued working on embroidery, building on the drawings and prints made in the first two weeks.

Each person made progress on their piece, taking time to stitch over shared conversation, plenty of tea and freshly baked cake 🍰
The group reflected on their choice of design. Some chose to select Welsh and British plants while others integrated native plants and flowers from their home countries.
We learned there were similarities in native homeland plant species between different countries such as the shapla phool (water lily) being the national flower of Bangladesh and strong connections in Mauritius. 🌸
🪴 One of the main takeaways from this project has been how much there is to notice when we really look at nature — especially local Welsh and British plants.
The group committed to observe nature space more carefully and use those observations creatively.
